What I've been up to

Here are some things I've been doing in the past year or so. Read about my experience studying abroad, my time as an intern, and my ongoing coffee career.

Brand Strategy Internship at Roundpeg Consulting

June 2023-October 2023

My experience with Roundpeg has been nothing short of a dream. I've found myself contributing to strategy plans, frameworks, and stories for inspiring clients in need of a boost, shift, or reframe. With a small team (seven, including myself and one other summer intern), everyone's voice and opinions feel highly valued.

Integral parts of my internship have included conducting and synthesizing secondary research, writing custom survey questions, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and supporting more senior members of the team to craft custom insights and recommendations.

I've also had the opportunity to contribute my planning skills to Roundpeg's Strategy Summer School speaker series. I've leveraged my communication skills to create email marketing campaigns for the events, and taken advantage of networking opportunities within the brand strategy and general marketing industries.

Study abroad in Toledo, Spain

Fall 2022

While I was abroad, I participated in a community engagement class in which I taught Spanish to immigrants from Ukraine, The Congo, and Morocco. It was such an eye-opening experience that I never would have gotten had I stayed in the Western hemisphere, and I got to create intercultural relationships with some really cool ladies.

I also traveled almost every weekend that I was in Spain. I ended up visiting four countries including Spain, and about twelve cities. Some of my favorites were Amsterdam, Brussels, and Madrid.

Pushing myself out of my comfort zone to take a complete semester of classes in Spanish was daunting but without a doubt one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I created relationships that I can already tell will last well past the honeymoon stage wearing off, and I can confidently say that it encouraged me to get to know myself more than any other event in my life.

Summer 2022

During my time as an account services intern at JT Mega, I was able to participate in several different enriching projects, but the most fulfilling was our summer-long campaign development for Happy Little Plants brand, a subsidiary of Hormel Foodservice that specializes in meatless pizza toppings, I worked together with copywriting intern Anna Zollar and art director intern Katie Benedict to come up with big ideas on how to execute a brand launch into the sphere of the consumer packaged goods.

I was also able to help out in a few different departments. In developing our campaign, I worked with JTM's media team to find the best channels and markets to launch the brand. I also worked with the strategy department to refine briefs as well as conduct competitive audits for new business pitches.

In the Loop Coffee

September 2021-June 2023

Coffee has been a big part of my life since I was about 14. I started drinking it early in my high school years and have not stopped since. My love of coffee inspired me to apply to work at Starbucks my senior year, a job that I loved.  I quit when I graduated so I would be able to focus on my studies my first year of college. Later, during lockdown, I worked at Caribou for a summer.

From my Junior year of college through graduation, I worked at at In the Loop, a locally owned coffee shop in the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis. We had pictures of neighborhood dogs on the walls and one of the coziest environments in the area. In my time there, I was able to create and nurture relationships with coworkers that I look up to and regulars that brightened my day. I like to think that I've added to the reputation of my establishment and keep people coming back consistently.
